Meet St. Thérèse of Lisieux: The Little Flower & Doctor of the Church
St. Thérèse of Lisieux is beloved for her “Little Way”—serving God with great love in small, everyday acts. Born in 1873 in Alençon, France, Thérèse entered the Carmelite convent at just 15 years old, where she lived a life of simplicity, sacrifice, and profound faith. Through her writings, especially Story of a Soul, she shared her deep trust in God’s love and taught that holiness is found not in grand deeds, but in humble devotion.
Though she died at the young age of 24, her spiritual legacy blossomed worldwide. Canonized in 1925 and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1997, St. Thérèse is the patron saint of missionaries and florists. Her feast day is celebrated on October 1st.
