Meet Pope St. John Paul II: Champion of Human Dignity
Pope St. John Paul II is remembered as a tireless defender of truth, a beacon of hope in the modern world, and a spiritual father to millions. Born Karol Wojtyła in Poland in 1920, he endured great suffering during World War II and Communist rule before becoming a priest, bishop, and eventually pope in 1978. His profound teachings, personal holiness, and courageous leadership shaped the Catholic Church for generations.
Serving as pope for over 26 years, St. John Paul II traveled the world preaching the Gospel, emphasizing the dignity of every human person, and calling the faithful to deeper conversion and evangelization. He is the patron saint of World Youth Day and is celebrated on his feast day, October 22.
