St. Maximilian Kolbe is one of the most powerful modern witnesses of heroic love in the Catholic Church, revered for his fearless faith, deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and ultimate act of self-sacrifice. 

A Polish Franciscan friar, missionary, and founder of the Militia Immaculatae, St. Maximilian Kolbe dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel through evangelization and Marian devotion.

During his imprisonment at Auschwitz, St. Maximilian Kolbe freely offered his life in place of another prisoner, fulfilling Christ’s command to love without limits. Often depicted in his Franciscan habit holding a crucifix, St. Maximilian Kolbe symbolizes total self-gift, courage in suffering, and unwavering trust in God. He is honored as the patron saint of prisoners, families, and the pro-life movement. His feast day is celebrated on August 14th.
