Meet St. Anthony of Padua: Patron of Lost Things
St. Anthony of Padua is known for his powerful preaching, deep devotion to Christ, and compassionate care for those in need. A Franciscan friar and gifted theologian, he dedicated his life to proclaiming the Gospel and helping others draw closer to God. He is often depicted holding the Christ Child and a lily, symbols of his purity, holiness, and profound love for Jesus.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, around 1195, St. Anthony joined the Franciscan Order and became renowned throughout Europe for his preaching and teaching. He is especially honored as the patron saint of lost items, a devotion that comes from traditions surrounding his life and ministry. His feast day is celebrated on June 13.
